More than just a pet for this 19 year old, Sophie Landgren treats her horses as a lifestyle. Sophie has dedicated eleven years of her life to perfecting the jumps, trots and cantering techniques of horse riding in a club local to Jönköping University, where she is studying Sports Science and Environmental Studies.

Sophie is very sociable and active in her horse riding club, where she meets with girls of all ages every Saturday morning to connect with and engage their passion for horse riding and all things equestrian. Riders such as Sophie Landgren share a common love of horses, which is a positive foundation on which to build a friendship.

She owns a Palomino thoroughbred named Above the Clouds, which she trains with regularly and enters in horse-riding shows. She has won five horse riding trophies due to her passion and dedication for horses. Her expertise is in dressage, which is commonly known as ‘Horse’s Ballet.’ Dressage involves the art of riding and training a horse in a manner that develops obedience, flexibility and balance. From these experiences, she is a qualified and professional horse-trainer and is available to assist in teaching children to learn the ropes of horse riding in a club capacity.

Sophie enjoys horse riding because it is a great way to keep fit. There are many benefits to horse riding such as improved balance, strengthened muscles, improved coordination, faster reflexes, stretching tight muscles, improved respiration and circulation and stimulating the tangible senses. Furthermore, she believes it has many psychological benefits for young children such as a general sense of well-being they can receive from horse riding in a club, improved self-confidence and a sense of achievement.

Horse riding is a positive experience that teaches young children from an early age to develop respect and love for horses. Children will learn the responsibility of helping to nurture and care for a horse, as well as value their contribution to society. Sophie encourages horse riding for young children and even adults.
